Transgender Day of Visibility

Sorry I know I am late, but I wanted to take a moment to thank all the Open transgender members of DU for their courage in standing up to transphobia and acknowledge the value of the entire transgender community this TGDoV!

Keep on fighting the haters and never let them drag you down to their level. Keep on standing up and being counted, and maybe one day we can push the bigots into the trash-bin of history.

They shouldn't have to carry the burden alone; no minority group should. Their issues and concerns are important. We must stand together!

Thank you for the thread!

But I did come out as transgendered on Facebook last night. Over a thousand people are listed as my friends there because of a game I play, and I thought I would lose hundreds of them (at least). To my surprise, I only lost one but gained about twenty. There is obviously too much hate and intolerance in the world, but I've been pleasantly surprised to find some love and acceptance, too. I even got to celebrate today by watching an eagle put on the most incredible show I've seen in a while. He didn't just sit in a tree looking beautiful. He owned the sky, which was awesome to behold. The ducks, seagulls, and turtles were fun to watch, too. School must have been out today because kids were fishing in all of my favorite spots, but that was nice to see, too, because fishing has brought a lot of peace into my life as I hope it does theirs. [That's also my excuse for not catching anything but it was nice to make my first casts of the year.] A friend and I walked the bike path a while and threw his nerf football a bit. The weather was gorgeous, and I live for days like this. Love and best wishes to you all.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
