Tech Company Settles Transgender Discrimination Complaint

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
MINNEAPOLIS — May 5, 2016, 1:30 PM ET

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says a technology services company working in Minnesota has agreed to pay $140,000 to settle a transgender discrimination complaint.

An EEOC investigation found Ellucian barred an employee from access to her workplace on a college campus a day after she told her co-workers that she planned to transition from male to female. Ellucian, headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, was performing contracted informational technology work and was asked by the college to remove the employee from campus.

The EEOC says Ellucian complied.

The college is not named in the complaint.
