Michael Volz was attacked on East Pike Street and 11th Avenue on Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. after leaving the Let Your Love Shine: A Queer Benefit For Orlando at Neumos. "According to Seattle Police, officers responded to a residential address to investigate the incident around 2:15 AM Thursday morning," Capitol Hill Seattle reports.

A friend provided more details about the assault on the page. Be warned, they are graphic:

Dear community, It is with a heavy heart, deep sadness, and great rage, that I let you know our dear friend Michael M Volz was assaulted last night on capitol hill. Michael, myself, and a group of friends attended the fundraiser to benefit the pulse massacre last night at Neumos. Michael left a little bit before everyone to walk to their car and get ready for work in the morning. As Michael was walking to their car, they past the rose, and were approached by a white man in an orange sweatshirt with scruffy brown hair. The man said to Michael, Happy Pride, and began to assault Michael. As he, was punching and choking Michael, he said, "show me your tits you tranny cunt" Michael some how made it back to their house. Michael contacted myself and their friend Sharon. Sharon drove Michael to the hospital and I met them at the Emergency Room. Currently, michael is home. They have some stitches, abrasions, and a lot of bruising. We will need food and people willing to spend time with Michael over the weekend. Currently, we have care situated until early tomorrow afternoon. If you are available to bring food or company please contact us!

1. (Update) Seattle PD, FBI investigating hate crime after transgender person attacked on Capitol Hill

The FBI has joined in the investigation, which police are classifying as a hate crime, authorities said.

"This is not an isolated incident. This is something that happens to our community frequently," Volz said at a Friday afternoon news conference, "and we won't tolerate it anymore."

Friends took Volz to the emergency room to be treated for cuts and bruises. The suspect used a transgender slur during the assault, investigators said Friday.

"I'm disgusted by this hateful attack," said Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole in a news release. "I want to assure the victim and the community that the SPD will leverage every resource to identify the suspect and bring him to justice."

2. This is exactly why I got incensed

when someone said that the Orlando attack was all about white supremacy and not about anti-LGBT.

Serious question - Is there one among us that has not been harassed for holding the hand of our girlfriend or boyfriend? Do you know someone that was beat up on the streets? Do you know someone that was murdered in the streets or committed suicide because of bullying?

I have never met an LGBT that hasn't experience #1, too many that have known or experienced #2, and help us all, even one of #3 is far too damn many, and far too damn many have gone.

To pass that off as though it had nothing to do with LGBT community prejudices pissed me off to a point where I would have gotten banned if I really said what I thought.
