http://www.joemygod.com/2016/06/30/chicago-gun-shop-to-raffle-off-ar-15-to-benefit-orlando-massacre-victims-shot-by-ar-15/A suburban gun shop is conducting a raffle to benefit victims of the Orlando shooting massacre and the prize is an AR-15 rifle.
The semi-automatic weapon that Second Amendment Sports in McHenry plans to give away is similar to the gun used in the June 12 Orlando attack that killed 49 people and wounded dozens more in a gay nightclub.
A McHenry County woman who lost her son in another mass shooting where an AR-15 was used the 2012 movie theater massacre in Colorado called the shops raffle offensive.
But gun shop owners say their intent was not to offend or to make a political statement but to help the Orlando victims by raffling off one of the shops most popular products.

(54,770 posts)rifle used wasn't an AR15, like it makes a bit of difference. They are both deadly and the fool auctioning the gun is a friggin asshole.
Maybe if the "2nd Amendment Sports" gun store owner charged people to watch him destroy all semi-auto rifles in stock and vow to never sell another no matter how much gun fanciers whined, he'd be doing something positive.
BTW -- here's a video on the gun owner's web site showing an accessory that turns an AR15 into the equivalent of a automatic rifle, something gunners tell us costs over $10,000 and requires special approval.

(24 posts)Since the 70's there are 8 times more guns in circulation, and half the gun deaths. While this is still way to many it's a step in the right direction.

A suburban Chicago gun shop has called off its controversial raffle of a semi-automatic rifle to raise money for the victims of the Orlando, Fla., mass shooting.
The owners of Second Amendment Sports in McHenry said they canceled the raffle after questions were raised about the legality of the event. State law allows only nonprofit organizations to run raffles.
Bert Irslinger Jr., who owns the store and shooting range with his father, Bert Sr., said his family and employees have received death threats and many crude comments by phone and social media since the Tribune broke the news about the raffle Thursday.
Still, he said they're considering their options such as partnering with a nonprofit for a possible future raffle and will continue taking donations for the Orlando victims "because we believe this is a good case."
