Anti-LGBT Think Tank's New 'Study' Says 'No Evidence' People Are Born Gay, or Trans Kids Are Real

The New Atlantis, a so-called Journal of Technology and Society, released the results of a new, anti-LGBT “study” today. The study, which is over 140 pages and analyzed data from over 200 peer-reviewed studies, is said to show that there is no evidence that people are born gay, or that transgender kids are more successful in life when treated with compassionate and inclusive care.

Among their "findings":

* The understanding of sexual orientation as an innate, biologically fixed property of human beings — the idea that people are “born that way” — is not supported by scientific evidence.

* Compared to heterosexuals, non-heterosexuals are about two to three times as likely to have experienced childhood sexual abuse.

* The hypothesis that gender identity is an innate, fixed property of human beings that is independent of biological sex — that a person might be “a man trapped in a woman’s body” or “a woman trapped in a man’s body” — is not supported by scientific evidence.

* Compared to the general population, adults who have undergone sex-reassignment surgery continue to have a higher risk of experiencing poor mental health outcomes. One study found that, compared to controls, sex-reassigned individuals were about 5 times more likely to attempt suicide and about 19 times more likely to die by suicide.

* Children are a special case when addressing transgender issues. Only a minority of children who experience cross-gender identification will continue to do so into adolescence or adulthood.

To live as a homeless street cretin due to rejection, neglect and abuse by my pseudo-religious parents in the late 1970's? Did I choose to be bullied daily for nearly 2 years beforehand by my all-hetero classmates? Would I want to have been fired from 2 jobs, denied housing half a dozen times, called "queer", "faggot", and many other epithets even worse? Would I have chosen to be the target of an anti-gay hate crime nearly 7 years ago that nearly took my life?
The only choice I made at about 14 years of age was to be honest with myself and others. Sharing that with someone I considered my best friend at the time was a terrible mistake.
Yet sham organizations like these DO CHOOSE to denigrate, distort and ignore the actual vast body of evidence to continue their bigotry and hatred, supposedly in the name of their sky spook.
Karma beats their dogma time and again.

What total nonsense. Every gay person I've had conversations with on this topic, over and over say that from as far back as they can remember they knew they were different.

And speaking as a life-long heterosexual, I NEVER had to question my sexuality. I was ALWAYS attracted to the opposite gender. Why in the world anyone would think it's different for someone attracted to the same gender, I've never understood.

Or, as any mother can tell you (and especially if she's had more than one child) children come into this world with their own agendas, and parents can only influence those agendas so much.

Such idiocy.

Over and over and over, they fucking LOST. And, one way or another, they're going to lose again, on the trans issue.

Everything they do in the meantime is about getting money from the gullible in order to personally enrich themselves.

for as long as they can keep the $$$$$$ coming in.

Incidentally, can somebody explain why our laws protect religious beliefs/activities that are very clearly CHOSEN by individuals yet refuse to protect people on the basis of their gender identity or sexual orientation despite the fact that these are almost certainly influenced, at least to some degree, by biology? Why should gender identity or sexual orientation not be protected even IF they were hypothetically "chosen" by people? This is a democratic society, not a religious theocracy based on a subset of religious belief.
