Yankees set to be only MLB team not to host LGBTQ Pride Nighthttps://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/yankees-set-be-only-mlb-team-not-host-lgbtq-pride-n889101
When the New York Mets held their first LGBTQ Pride Night in August 2016, fans waved rainbow flags in the stadium, the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps Marching Band performed, Citi Fields giant Coca-Cola sign was lit up in rainbow colors and the Kiss Cam caught several same-sex smooches throughout the game. In keeping with tradition, the team honored a veteran at the game, and for that first Pride Night, the Mets honored a gay Army vet.
Nearly two years later, however, the Mets hometown rivals the New York Yankees have yet to host a Pride Night of their own, In fact, the Yankees are currently the only Major League Baseball team that has neither had a Pride Night nor has one scheduled.
When the Los Angeles Angels announced earlier this week their plans to host an LGBTQ-themed night in June 2019, the Yankees were left as the lone Pride Night holdout among the MLBs 30 teams.
It's going to be real hard to look in the mirror and see themselves as the only team in Major League Baseball that is not holding a Pride Night, said David Kilmnick, CEO of the LGBT Network, a New York-based nonprofit.
...
I suppose in the nature of things somebody had to be last.
Possibly they just didn't think of it while making up this years schedule of events.
Benefit of the doubt and all that.
The question is what about next year?

OP
As a Yankees fan I hope this kind of negative press will shame them into doing the right thing.

I'm a die-hard Yankees fan (hence my screen name), but this is just plain wrong.

Signed Mickey Mantle to the Yankees. He also played a huge role in signing Jackie Robinson to the Dodgers. Oddly, I have never been a Yankees fan. Maybe growing up in Missouri, the cards and royals was more reasonable. But never did like the yanks even though there is a pic of my dad sitting on Mantle's knee. Since I moved to the east coast I want so badly to like them, but this makes it really hard. Ugh.

It also makes no sense whatsoever for a team playing in NEW YORK.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
