Son of actors Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal is accused of beating man in 'homophobic attack'

Redmond O’Neal, the son of actors Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, has been accused of beating up a man—and allegedly calling him a “faggot”—in a homophobic attack. Ken Fox, a part-time actor and bartender, filed a lawsuit against O’Neal on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference filmed by ABC on Thursday, Fox, represented by high-profile attorney Gloria Allred, claimed that O’Neal attacked him as he walked to a laundromat in Los Angeles, California, on May 2. Fox alleged that O’Neal, dressed in a hoodie, approached him and said: “What are you looking at, faggot?” O’Neal then hit him with a bottle he was holding—causing him to fall to the floor—before shouting more slurs at him and punching him.

He reportedly sustained a number of injuries, including a broken nose, during the attack. Fox’s lawsuit is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, including medical bills. Attorney Allred also said that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office had filed a charge of criminal felony assault over the incident.

O’Neal was reportedly arrested over a separate incident in May. At the time, police charged him with a number of crimes, including attempted murder and two counts of assault using a deadly weapon.
