Denise McAllisters name ricocheted around the Internet last week thanks to a viral dispute with Meghan McCain, co-host of ABCs The View. Now, the publisher of a conservative outlet says McAllister will no longer write for it after she sent a barrage of homophobic tweets aimed at a gay journalist on Saturday.

Publisher Ben Domenech said that McAllister had written for the Federalist on a freelance basis and that the feedback he had received from the public and other writers in response to her tweets played a role in his decision.
We have hundreds of freelancers, he told The Washington Post. She wont be one of them going forward.
Soon after the news broke, McAllister went on the offensive. I was fired when I criticized a gay man who mocked my heterosexual relationship, she tweeted. Yet no one defended me when I stood for masculinity and Gods design for sexuality despite outlets saying they represent Judeo-Christian values about sexuality, identity and purpose. What is truth?

One of Denise McAllister's tweets aimed at journalist Yashar Ali. This and subsequent tweets resulted in her being dropped from the Federalist, a conservative outlet.

(16,376 posts)I'd expect the same if she tweeted racist drivel. They made a logical business decision and she can peddle her horseshit to other publications.

(25,839 posts)I'm speaking as (as I like to put it) a boring heterosexual woman. But that doesn't mean I don't have some understanding and sympathy of those who are different from me.
Heck, I'm a woman. I was in the very distant past the first woman in a particular job category in my company, and while my experience was not as awful as many such first timers experienced, it was strong enough that I hope I never lose connection or understanding with others in such a situation.

(146 posts)Well Denise, the truth is that
1. You got fired
2. Now you have more time to fetch your man his beer.
3. Maybe you learned not to tweet something that any smart, independent woman is going to find offensive (I highly doubt you will).
