JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Nearly 100 LGBTQ teenagers attended Pride Prom on Friday at The Buckman Bridge Universalist Church after the Jacksonville Public Library's decision to cancel the event due to safety concerns.

Around 50 volunteers, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers, LGBT veterans, private security and more helped make sure the event ran smoothly.

Beatrice Palmer (BeBe Deluxe), the host of the Pride Prom event, said safety was never an issue.

"There were absolutely no causes for concern and no religious hate group protestors in attendance," Palmer said.

The Pride Prom event was all about friendship, positivity and love.

...and there you have it. Most of the hate, the racism, the misogyny, the homophobia originates from religion.

...I also recognize that there are religious groups that do not foment hate as part of the usual routine.

Sorry, the history of humanity is littered with the dead bodies and bloodshed directly attributed to man's religions.

ignorance and fear. Authoritarian orgs like some religions, governments and social groups spread it.
I'm an Atheist that loves the study of religion. The bases of most religions boil down to do on to others as you would have them do onto you. Not a bad idea.

And I agree, most of the kernels of substance at the heart most religions is the Golden Rule. Unfortunately, what mankind can create, mankind can also deface and demean.

You said most of the bad things originate from religion.

Prove it.

I've never been in a war, and I've never killed anyone.
