Family of Four Accidentally Books Virgin Airline's Gay "Pride Flight"

(short video at link https://www.advocate.com/pride/2019/7/03/family-four-accidentally-books-virgins-pride-flight-has-blast )

A family of four didn’t quite know what they were getting into when they decided to stick with a Virgin Atlantic flight they’d booked from London to New York that eventually became a drag queen and star-studded Pride Flight in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.

"We booked the flight in September 2018. Virgin then phoned us in October to inform us it had been chosen to be the Pride Flight. They asked if we wanted to change flight which meant traveling on a different day which we couldn’t do, so we went ahead as planned,” Kerry Powell, who boarded the flight with her husband, Sean, and sons Calum, 4, and Cody, 1, told The Daily Mail.

The flight featured talent including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Tituss Burgess and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Courtney Act and was staffed entirely with people who identify under the LGBTQ umbrella.

Video of the flight shows the Powell boys gleefully bouncing up and down at their seats to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” while a drag queen dances down the aisle.

Once the Pride Flight was announced with its agenda that included drag queen bingo and a Judy Garland sing-along, tickets for the 284-person flight sold out in under 24 hours.

“It was brilliant. The kids enjoyed it and the eight hours flew by,” Kerry Powell told the Mail. “The goodie bags were amazing and the celebrities chatted with us and took photos. Overall fantastic time!”

This couldn't have happened even 10 years ago. I am glad that family stuck with their plans those memories will last forever for them.
