By Fergal O'Brien

Hundreds of people took part in a transgender pride march in Dublin this afternoon.

It is the second year that the Trans Pride event has been held in the capital.

The rally started at the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square before a march to Merrion Square.

The theme of this year's Trans Pride was 'Break the Binary'.

The organisers said they wanted to highlight their "opposition to oppressive and rigid gender norms in our society".

The event is also used to call for more rights to address the needs of the trans community in Ireland
