Texas GOP leaders enter parents’ battle over child’s gender

By JAMIE STENGLE and CLARICE SILBER
October 25, 2019

DALLAS (AP) — Top Republican leaders in Texas this week weighed in on two parents’ battle over their 7-year-old child’s gender identity after the case was shared widely on social media and conservative news sites.

Former spouses Anne Georgulas and Jeffrey Younger, who live in the Dallas area, have been embroiled in a legal dispute over their divorce and the care of their children since 2015. Georgulas says the couple’s 7-year-old who was born a boy now identifies as a girl and prefers to be called a female name. Younger, who says the child acts like a boy around him, asked to be the sole decision-maker and launched a website in which he pleads for help to “save” his child.

Inaccurate and misleading stories about the 7-year-old have since circulated in blogs, Facebook posts, YouTube videos and petitions, bringing attention to a usually private matter.

The Associated Press is not naming the 7-year-old to protect the child’s privacy.

Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Wednesday evening that the attorney general’s office and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services were looking into “the matter” of the child. And on Thursday, Attorney General Ken Paxton said he was asking Family and Protective Services to investigate the mother for possible child abuse, citing “public reports” in a letter that alleges she is “forcing” the child to transition to a girl.

So says the judge in the case. The judge criticized both parents but told the father who posted the story that he was jepordizing his children's privacy and welfare.

Right now both parents have full say in their children's welfare.

It just another right wing fake story designed to stir up the religiously insane. I stumbled on to the fake outrage of a religious radio talker yesterday and knew it was fake from the word go......but it certainly got a lot of people around here in east TN calling in. They will fall for anything if you throw in some religious outrage.

Keep sending your money to fake causes you silly Trump worshippers.

family matter than by weighing in on the criminality of tRUMP and his ASSociates. disclaimer: When I was 5 years old my older sister was sent away to boarding school. I missed her so one day I put on one of her dresses and went outside to play. Now at age 70 I'm definitely male and father of three sons. Give the kid a break, his whole situation will probably work out better than the tRUMP impeachment thing or the Texas reTHUG thing.
