HRC's Municipal Equality Index (MEI) demonstrates the ways that many cities can—and do—support the LGBTQ people who live and work there, even where states and the federal government have failed to do so.

1. Austin, TX 100.

Not too surprising. There's always room for improvement, of course, but that's a pretty solid foundation.

There are some places I thought surprisingly high (Pocatello, Idaho, 71; Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, 66; Norman, Oklahoma, 92. Hey, not bad.).

Similarly, there are some others that I thought surprisingly low or didn't find surprising at all (Rock Springs, Wyoming, 0).

Perfect score in regard to laws, and especially good in regard to Municipal employment.
