Dad threatened to "show up & kill somebody" if drag queens performed in his kid's school

A Vermont resident could be facing jail time after threatening a local school if his daughter becomes near a transgender person or drag queen at her school. The man is Shane Gobeil and he threatened to “show up and kill somebody” when conversing with two students of the school in a New Hampshire store.

Gobeil’s comments come after numerous Republicans have made statements decrying drag queens being allowed near kids.

“The school’s changing,” Gobeil said. “Before you know it, there’s going to be a drag queen show and, you know what, I’m probably going to show up and kill somebody. A lot of bodies.”

“You understand?” he said. “If you guys ever do that to Canaan and my daughter’s in that school, be ready for God’s wrath.”

He looks SO scary, AND creepy. Like he's a creepy creeper who creeps AND a homicidal maniac rolled into one.

Mark my words: this dickbag is a ticking time bomb. He is fucking DANGEROUS, and there's very little the law can do about it until he does something a lot worse than spewing hateful threats. Right now, he's up for a year in jail, max, and I hope he does get that. But the reality is he'll be back out on the streets way too soon, just as dangerous if not more so.

I don't know what the answer is. Our laws are written on the basis of punishing people for actions they've actually done, not locking them up based on things they've said they want to do. There can be consequences for making threats, like the year in jail he could *possibly* get, but that doesn't address the very real danger to society that he and others like him pose (especially to those in the groups he's decided to direct his hate towards).

I don't like living in a society where people like him are allowed to walk around loose, but I'll be damned if I know what can be done about it, within the parameters of the U.S. Constitution.
