From the OP gaslighting, to hearing about "stupid ideas".. From "people who don't agree with you" to "frogs" and "science"... I feel like I've stumbled into Fox News, or at least Yahoo's comments section..

"Let the juries deal with it..." For what? So they can ignore blatant bigotry? One of those posts flat-out drops the C-word. And that's okay... Why? Because it was made by a real woman who put us frogs in our place?

Last week, it was getting jumped over "constrained views of free speech", with the "other side" failing to get while they're pearl-clutching over free speech, some of us are trying not to get killed! Now it's frogs and science and "stupid ideas" and people who are perfectly fine with their birth-assigned gender telling us that, no, we can't know at such a young age.

Get the fuck over it, world. I DID. I didn't have the words. I couldn't explain it. But I knew. "Wait until puberty"? You mean when the first thoughts of suicide creep in? The first moments of looking in the mirror and screaming in self-loathing?

I don't fucking believe the original post in that thread. But even if it is 100% accurate... Would you rather reach out and let those who know "This isn't who I am" that it's okay at 5... Or watch them hang themselves at 15?

After that display of hate... I think some would be glad to see us out of sight, out of mind and out of life... so long as we don't interfere with their progress.

21. Yup... you are so right. For an intense year or more it was war on women and LGBTQ dressed as a war

on feminism (at its most intense more than a decade ago for the newer members). And the defense of the two terms you reference, especially the C word was devastating and a term that approached the 'N-word for many of us--especially as it was used as a cudgel against us in the workplace, particularly in male-dominated fields. (and yes, a few British Duer women would weigh in on how the "c" word was "A-ok" in the UK--refusing to realize the very different connotation and use it had had in this country and that any naive' sense of "reclaiming" the word was only being used to further disenfranchise and deride--an excuse to hide behind).

I won't go further except to say DU needs to hold to values of tolerance and equality for all--and whether or not there is manipulation from "visitors" who intend to incite, we can't allow ourselves to be so manipulated.
