It's French, but I hope everyone saw this.

This may have been posted before and I don't know if it is as effective if you don't understand French, but for me it says it all.

All I can say is my life did not really begin until I was 50. Because then all this stuff stopped, and only then was I free to be the outgoing, friendly person that I am.

I don't wear make-up and keep my hair short. Had enough of this stuff, of this trauma. Being a young woman isn't what it's put up to be in the ads and movies.

I can still remember the discomfort of being a "budding" teen, AKA when my look transformed from child to young woman. Cat calls from grown men when you're only 12? Not good for the self esteem. By the time I was out of high school this sort of attention was so common that it barely registered anymore. I never wore makeup. I wore glasses and looked bookish. Didn't matter. What was worse though was if I registered my disgust on my face -- then I'd be treated to name-calling.

Nope, don't miss that at all. I'd rather be invisible.
