Norwegian Women's Beach Volleyball not allowed to wear shorts

and were threatened by the EC tournament organizer with fines if they wore anything covering more than 10cm of their butts

The reason? The players must bring appeal to a competition where sponsors are very important. The rule of wearing a bikini at the Olympic Games was eliminated by the International Federation in 2021, ahead of the London Games, although it is still alive in some events.

“I thought these things didn’t happen anymore,” said the former Norwegian star. Merita Berntsen Mol. The players felt too sexualized and demanded a change.

The men, of course, wear shorts

The women must be defiant. They must unequivocally tell the assholes running the EC tournament to f*** themselves.

But the days of mandatory bikinis are over, says the International Volleyball Federation. According to newly adopted rules, female competitors in Olympic volleyball will be permitted to wear shorts and sleeved tops out of respect for the cultural beliefs of some participating countries.

It's interesting how this is framed (respect for cultural beliefs). Which is ludicrous. Sure, it is respectful of different beliefs - but for women playing the sport, it might be important for a variety of reasons (including the fact that women have monthly needs - and some might prefer MORE than a bikini

How about because it is wrong and exploitive of women from all cultures? I am glad they did change the rules, but it was a despicable rule in the first place. Thanks for the info.

Another reminder that the women were wrongfully called the "beach volley girls" in some headlines, so it was assumed they played beach volleyball, but it is beach HANDBALL and all reports and complaints need to be directed at the IHF (below) or the EHF:
