that child victims of sexual abuse face. The reason for the silence of those victims. The problem that that silence helps to enable. I was moved, very.

So I posted it in GD, where it was soundly ignored. Way to prove how necessary it is to remove that sigma, the shame, and the silence. Excellent job. Outstanding

Maybe I shouldn't read into the fact that so many people read it and had absolutely nothing to say. Maybe I shouldn't, but I can't help it.

Perhaps that is why no one posted anything.

But for the record, if it was working for people in GD and they simply chose not to comment for other reasons...I think the reason is obvious. (At least one reason; as you post, stigma surrounding this topic is high.)

GD is becoming the same cess pit of propaganda, infighting, personal attacks and other unreadable shit GD: P was on Old DU. It's sad that those who only come here for a certain thing can't get over themselves. Other important discussions don't have a place to go.

There was an investigation, and I said nothing although I was not personally asked. The charges ended up getting dropped. It had been over 5 years since the abuse, and I was then 18.
My husband, a close friend, and two counselors know that I was abused. I did not tell about the other girl. I was too ashamed, and I am still ashamed.
This is not irrational though. I have seen how people have treated child sex abused victims. I have heard what they have said. Still maybe I should have been braver.

i wish you had the support or whatever it took to be able to report the abuser. but we see what happens to people when they speak out. it is too hard. too many people look to defend, excuse, justify, protect.
