From Washington Post, very sad graphic on rape and rape prosecution

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/01/07/the-saddest-graph-youll-see-today/

The above graphic, passed along by the Huffington Post‘s Laura Bassett, was put together by the Enliven Project using data from Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey and FBI reports. It drives home extremely well the fact that false rape accusations are exceedingly rare, despite what media reports might suggest. Almost as rare are cases when rapists actually go to jail.

Talk about lack of self control! And this is the sex that controls most the world and most corporations, businesses and LAWS. They can't even control themselves!!!!! We need a national discussion on evils of rape...maybe mandatory courses in sex education in high school. We have classes for drunk drivers that show the horrors of car accidents. We need courses like that where women tell men how they've been horribly scared by rape and it's consequences. I don't think men actually realize how harmful it is to women to be raped. Men need to be thoroughly enlightened!

So that means this chart isn't based on total population, but instead illustrates prosecution rates for rape.

I am aware the many crimes against women go reported an something needs to been done about the violence against women.

But for the purposes of a study how to you count a unreported rape.

The usual way involves estimating based on self-reporting in surveys as opposed to official reports to authorities.
Does that answer your question?
