Her reasoning was I rejected statins for 'pre-hypertension' so I'd reject anything else she offered.

Yes, I complained of side effects resulting from being on a toxic dose of simvastatin...a dose the FDA and the dept of Veteran's Affairs both decided had a side-effect profile that was unjustified by any benefit.

she's assigned to me by the V.A. I don't get to pick my clinic or MD.

She's the same person who missed what was a growing need for an emergency triple bypass that was performed less than a month after she read my first EKG.

Statins aren't for "pre-hypertension" and they have serious potential side effects, particularly at high doses.

I refused them after they were prescribed for legitimate reasons (cholesterol and lipid profile). I changed my diet, quit smoking and increased my activity. When I went back, I didn't even fit the criteria for them anymore.

If you can't get a new doctor, find out who her supervisor is or contact the state licensing board.

She is flat out wrong.
