Advocates Criticize Bevin's Plan to Overhaul Medicaid
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BOWLING GREEN, Ky. Jun 28, 2016, 2:36 PM ET
Health care advocates and consumers say Republican Gov. Matt Bevin's plan to overhaul the state's Medicaid program would disastrous and urged him to significantly alter his proposal or abandon it.
Several hundred people packed an auditorium at Western Kentucky University on Tuesday to attend the first of three public hearings on Bevin's proposal. Kentucky expanded its Medicaid program under former Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear to include able-bodied adults who meet certain income requirements. About 400,000 people got health insurance because of those changes.
Bevin says the program is too expensive. He wants to make beneficiaries pay a small monthly premium and hold down a job or do volunteer work in order to receive benefits.
None of the 22 people who spoke at the hearing supported the proposal.

(5,737 posts)1. He is threatening this action if the US government doesn't agree to his changes to the ACA in KY
Bevin has done many things that are likely illegal since being sworn in. The Democrat Attorney General of KY has filed two suits in courts against him so far, with several other to come. Individuals have also filed suits against him. it is very likely that Bevin will not finish his term.

(7,341 posts)2. He'll finish his term unless the KY Senate flips.
He might get impeached in the slightly democratic house but the senate is 75% republican and unlikely to convict. He's such an asshat but, as many rural kentuckians (the same ones who voted in Turtle) say - he's our asshat.
