Update on my bronchitis condition.

Got two new prescriptions from the doc, plus an inhaler to improve my lung capacity. I've had this for a week. Had a chest xray and fortunately no sign of pneumonia. Hubby is getting better with the bronchitis he got from me.

Talked to my son today and he told me he was out sick from work for a week last year when he had it.

I noted that at the clinic where I went there was a waiting room full of coughing people. One guy had a surgical mask on, which was probably a good idea.

Our friend and neighbor is running errands and doing food shopping for us so we aren't stranded.

I found out that if I could just get out of the damn bed and take a shower I would prolly feel better. It works to get vertiical and not let all that phlegm pool in your chest.

We have some very scary news on TV about people dying from this new strain of flu but we had our flu shots earlier and are hoping for the best.

How are things with other DUers? Anyone else sick as a dog from this stuff?

You're right about getting vertical to help clear your lungs. I'm a long-time lung disease sufferer (bronchiectasis since age 18), and I want to tell you that lying in bed can help you develop pneumonia. It would be good for you, if you are strong enough, to get into a hot shower. The steam will help your breathing, and the moving around (and getting clean) will make you feel better all over.

I hope you're feeling better soon, but don't push yourself--it takes a long time to get over this stuff--while trying to move around a little every day, even if it's just sitting up in bed.

4. Yep, the shower helped. Getting out of my pj's and getting dressed also helped.

I also have Mucinex for congestion.

I still haven't figured out how to dispense the inhaler medicine but I'm doing the best I can.

Mucinex is good. Are you taking 600mg or 1200? If you're using 600 and still feel congested, try the 1200.

they really didn't work. I started giving her 2 tablespoons of thyme, honey, and lemon and it worked. She is coughing much less and sleeping through the night.Seems that the all natural stuff does better with her. She did not have pneumonia according to the x-rays just a bad cold

went in to pneumonia but after meds is ok. Run around teen who wouldn't slow down never sick so thought it could never hit them , it's just a cold . First time ever taking antibiotics and had to drag him to the doctor to get him in. I told him you need to go they have something called an X-ray machine and you sound terrible! Yep sure enough pneumonia in one lung had just started . The doc said you brought him in just in time, it is just starting, he should be able to recover with meds .... I gave him that see I told you look.

I got it much later from a different source and I took off of work which helped . I will slow down for illness or injuries
So rest, liquids and my home remedies some would cringe at seemed to have taken me over the hump to recovery.
Glad to hear you got to the doctor and your husband is recovering
Yes if you are sick ask for a mask when you enter . The better effect is for the ill person to wear it to protect others . Many think it should be the other way but no

Glad you have some help aiding you folks. I don't get sick too often but this one got me gooood!!
Laying in bed I've been on a few different websites and after spending a lot of time on DU I appreciate it even more , in fact I have to renew my star when I'm better
Get Well soon! Take care

I took the first two weeks off work in January to spend with my #2-son who was home for winter break and was sick the entire time. Ended up on antibiotics, albuterol, steroids. Now my bronchitis is much better but all the coughing has thrown out my low back. Bending, lifting, coughing kills me. Kept me from the March today, too. I guess this too shall pass, though. Hugs to you.

But sick he is and looks awful. I went out and did my own shopping today (he has been picking up food for us during our illness). It was fine as long as I didn't spend too much time on my feet. So I'm doing short runs to the supermarket every few days and that works well.

He was real sick but brought over that soup. I had some for lunch and it was delicious.

I told hubby that I hoped he made enough soup for himself, too.

I'm back to work but it wears me out. I was off today and went grocery shopping and that was tiring as well. Plus, my low back is still killing me due to all the coughing. Still, I'm sick of staying inside and would rather tire than rest at this point. Hope you guys continue to improve.
