(40,804 posts)I read about toilet spray several years ago. Most public toilets don't have lids you can close, so I make sure I'm completely dressed, have my purse in hand, & the door to the stall unlocked before pressing the flush lever & then I dart out as quickly as I can.

(114,503 posts)so my face isn't anywhere near the bowl when the lidless public toilet flushes.
I'm not as worried about intestinal bugs in the air, most are destroyed by UVB light and the usual ghastly fluorescent lighting produces adequate amounts of that.

I've been stomping on those levers since I was a teenager, always knew hanging my face over a flushing toilet was a bad idea.

(25,994 posts)B/c I was thinking the person before me didnt sit down but just squatted over the bowl n missed. Yuck. Now, Im gonna carry Clorox or Lysol wipes in my pocketbook..I gave that up n just put my debit card in my pocket but..now I guess Ill carry something for the wipes. 🙀

(5,697 posts)Everyone has to open and close the toilet. That settles the "seat debate" once and for all. Also it improves your immune system by having it deal with less unnecessary work. I heard about this during the first SAARS outbreak and have been doing this or covering my mouth and nose when flushing in public.
