Queens Gambit

Started watching Queens Gambit about a young lady growing up and being a chess prodigy during the 60s. First, I am a chess geek, so I had interest already, second be prepared to have your emotions thrown back and forth. Going into episode 4 and it realy is a great series.

It wrapped up perfectly. I hate it when a show becomes popular and they feel they have to milk it for another season or two. Like the O.A. It was over after the first season.

But I did it today with QB. The very last scene got me misty eyed. I wondered how it would end right before the credits and they came through very strong, imo.

I played tournament chess back in the 70s. Local tourneys only. I was never very good, but it was fun while it lasted, and the series brought back memories. I went to the closet and dug out my old chess set. hehe

There was a certain point during the last episode when I burst
into tears. Won't give it away. Plus the ending came at the last
minute and was perfect.

I don't think it needs another season.

18. That was a difficult mini-series for me to watch. I knew someone like that.

She tried to kill herself in my bathtub.

By the time she got her life together I was out of the picture.

That's why I put off watching the series until now.

I quit high school for college in the mid 'seventies, and yeah, I was one of those weird kids in the chess club, partly because it was a safe space away from the bullies who regularly tormented me. But I was much more interested in computers. Once I started playing with BSD I lived in computer labs.

Are obsessions a curse? Most of my own obsessions are useless things.
