I enjoyed the first three seasons, but this one fell flat. Overly complicated plot, a lot of "family issues with Cass", and a nasty surprise at the end.

It is a very good show and I am an incredible fan of the cast, but especially Nicola Walker. What a powerful scene-stealer she is.

I have to say there is a real reason why so many British procedurals are so memorable and worth the watch. Great acting and character development that makes you care. I really don't think most US equivalent programs do it as well.

I just noted that Nicola Walker has another show in post-production, "Annika" with the following summary:
The sharp, witty and enigmatic DI Annika Strandhed, as she heads up a new specialist Marine Homicide Unit (MHU) that is tasked with investigating the unexplained, brutal, and seemingly unfathomable murders.

Might be another good one for the future.

BTW, I just read that ITV had confirmed that there actually WILL be a season 5 of Unforgotten... So, DI Sunny Khan and colleagues will return.

Will miss Nicola Walker. Amazing actress. Glad she has a new project. Hope it's available in the states in the next year or so.

‘Unforgotten’ Star Nicola Walker Plays a Detective in New Series ‘Annika,’ But You Can’t Watch It in the U.S. (Yet)
by Megan Elliott on September 11, 2021

Nicola Walker may have left PBS’s British detective drama Unforgotten, but she isn’t giving up detective work just yet. The actor is currently starring in a new series, Annika, where she also plays a cop. But American fans of Walker — who has also appeared in series such as Spooks, River, Collateral, and Last Tango in Halifax — will have to wait a bit before watching the show, since it isn’t currently airing in the U.S.
