We cut the Comcast television cord.

They didn't even put up a fight when we called in yesterday to cancel our television and phone service. We still have their highest speed unlimited internet and that may be the reason they were so cooperative. Anyway, we're testing out Youtube TV but it's looking good so far.

5. I work for a cable/internet company

This is an unspoken truth. Cable companies are losing money on cable tv. People cut the cord, so viewership goes down and the networks make less money from advertising. The networks then raise their rates to the cable companies, who pass the increase on to their customers. Which leads to more people cutting the cord.
My company said they weren’t going to prioritize Tv about 6 years ago, and we’ve been pushing Internet since. We’ve dropped some big networks over what we considered unreasonable rate hikes, and have had extended outages with a couple others. The only network that really has clout anymore is ESPN.

I watch MSNBC on Streamfare.com or Livenewsnow.com.

Pluto tv has all kinds of programing funded by ads and of course Netflix or Amazon prime offer award winning content.

It’s the only damn reason I still have Comcast. Also, I’m not clear if dropping the tv alone (I don’t use the phone) is a huge savings- was yours?

I won’t go into the whole story but the excuses on internet went from “static” to “squirrels” chewing just the Internet part of the cable.

I don’t miss cable at all.

I would be happy to cut the cable if I could get local TV stations with an internet feed to a streaming box.

10. You can get a smart TV and a wi-fi connection.

Youtube TV, which we are trying out two weeks for free, provides some local stations, Comcast local sports such as your neighborhood MLB team, the fore major networks, CW, CNN and MSNBC and so on. If none of that interest you, you can just subscribe to whatever streaming service appeals to you.
