"Stephen Fry in America"
An enjoyable series (found on Netflix) in which Stephen Fry visits all 50 states and always finds something odd or interesting.

(1,999 posts)He found some conservationists, including at least one who wanted to add the Sasquatch to the endangered species list.
Maybe I'm oversensitive, being a bit of a tree-hugging dirt worshipper myself, but It was embarrassing to watch.

(1,999 posts)It's been reported that he's a snob, but he's at a bit of a disadvantage. Not everyone can be the charming Hugh Laurie.

Still Blue in PDX
(1,999 posts)At the beginning he seemed so relieved to have been born in the UK instead of the US it sort of corroborated the "snob" label that I've seen applied to him.
I have a friend who was born in England and then moved here when she was 10 and still thinks she's a bit better than most of us Americans (even though she's lived here almost 50 years!) so maybe I have a little bit of reverse-snob and/or hypersensitivity coloring my perception. I will give him another chance, keeping an open mind.

(11,441 posts)There's quite a bit to Stephen Fry, but I always think of the cockapoo (sp.) trying to *mate* with Mark Carwardine... "He looks so happy!"
