Anyone watch "The Fall" on Netflix? (Original Post) cyberswede Jul 2013 OP
I liked it. Had the makings for a longer run series but not to be I guess. MichiganVote Jul 2013 #1

But I like not having to wait between episodes, like when you watch on regular TV.

is it like a self contained one series show? or will it be back?

heh - i looked it up to be sure we were talking about the same show and there were like 3 movies listed before it. but i knew what you were talking about because i just watched it myself about a month or two ago.

Not sure if there will be more.

I was a huge X-Files fan back when that was on - it's an adjustment to see Anderson NOT playing Scully. I could get used to it, though.

I've kept it in my queue hoping there will be a second season.

Just checked. There will be a second season.

The Fall is a British crime drama series created by Allan Cubitt. The series stars Gillian Anderson as Stella Gibson, a senior police officer investigating a string of murders in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Fall is being produced by Artists Studio and premiered in Ireland on RTÉ One at 9.30pm on 12 May 2013, and in the UK on BBC Two at 9pm on 13 May 2013.[3] BBC Two renewed the series for a second season on 27 May 2013.[2]

I liked it, but I like most of the British series. And I'm also an X Files fan, so I had to check out Gilllian Anderson. Her character is interesting, kind of cold and a little creepy.

But I wonder if it's more because her character doesn't fit the societal idea of how a woman should act. If a male character acted that way, would it seem more "typical?"

The character also reminds me a little of Helen Mirren's Jane Tennyson from Prime Suspect (great show!).

I was going to mention her. I feel like Gillian Anderson's character has a lot more to be revealed, that's why I'm so glad there is another season. And if I remember right, she even said when questioned about her one nighter with the young detective, that if she was a man it wouldn't be an issue. I felt like she enjoyed making the men uncomfortable about all of that.
