And one more gem that I discovered "Longmire"
I may have read about it here actually, but I'm not sure. It is a made for cable show (think it was A&E) and the first season has ten episodes. Hoping the 2nd season will show up soon, can't find the reruns on TV yet.
From Netflix:
"Based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by Craig Johnson, this contemporary crime thriller focuses on a Wyoming sheriff who's rebuilding his life and career following the death of his wife."
Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica is in it. She is one of a kind and gives a great performance.

(1,945 posts)Longmire is not 'showy' or overly dramatic and plays out slowly IMO, but I think the stories it has are interesting and well done. And the characters are not all black and white. For what is basically a crime show, I really enjoy it and am looking forward to the next season. I hope it comes back early in 2014 so we don't have to wait too long.

(47,366 posts)was playing on A&E over the summer, so there's a good chance they will play the reruns before they air season three. According to IMDB, season two is 13 episodes.
I love the main character, Walt Longmire - quiet, understated, but complex.
Okay, I just checked A&E's website and season two will be rerun on November 15th. Looks like a marathon.

(47,366 posts)I just finished watching season one about a week ago on Netflix, so it is still fresh for me. Really looking forward to season two, which included the sheriff's election.

I mentioned this in an earlier discussion of Longmire, but I was shocked to learn that Robert Taylor--Walt--is Australian. He really does a good job of speaking with an American accent.....or hiding his native accent, which ever way you would describe it. I am impressed with that in addition to his acting.

(47,366 posts)that caused me to put it in my Netflix queue. Its been there a long time, so wasn't sure where I'd heard of it.
I was really impressed with Robert Taylor as well. I couldn't remember seeing him in anything, so I looked him up at IMDB. He definitely is convincing as an American. He has that slow, western drawl down!

I'm enjoying Continuum right now. That's a good show.

(47,366 posts)but haven't gotten into it yet.
I hadn't seen the 2nd season of Longmire, so I'll have eight or nine episodes just from today to watch.
Meanwhile, I discovered "The Returned" on the Sundance Channel. Its a French series that just started a few weeks ago. Really good television. It has subtitles, but you forget that after a very short time. They do creepy suspense so much better than American television.
