House of Cards finale - WTF
Was anybody else as disappointed as I in the House of Cards final episode?
I can't even express adequately my disappointment!

(20,886 posts)But, I agree to a certain extent about the ending of season three. In fact, I think all of season three was a bit weak.

Thanks for cluing me in.

(4,033 posts)he went from being a greasy, conniving politician to being a murderer. The political conniving seemed way too true, but when he just started casually murdering folk it was over my mark.

(17,276 posts)I could not stomach it any more, after the young female reporter got murdered. Too much.

(14,087 posts)they totally and finally lost me.
I've never before, on any program I was hooked on, so swiftly and completely DROPPED the program because of one episode. I just never had any desire whatsoever to watch it again.

(17,276 posts)I will usually finish every book I start (it has to be REALLY bad for me to give up on it) and I usually watch a series that I start and get into. But yes, same reaction as you--I have no desire to find out any more. It was at least the second murder and it just turned me completely off.
I'm more of a PBS series watcher--Masterpiece and Masterpiece Mystery--the detective series, Downton Abby, etc. I can take murder on Mystery--it was just the way it was done on this one. I'm leery of trying any more from Netflix.

(1,945 posts)I have been a huge fan of the original British HoC for ages and realize that the US version has to have it's own 'flavor'. I thought the first two seasons were pretty good but now I think they've stretched it all too thin. Too many story lines--Frank, Claire, Stamper, now the women running for president against Frank, Claire being Sec of State, Frank's ambiguous sexuality..... just too much imo. Like they're trying to throw in something for all demographics.
In the original version it was just about FU's working his way to the top. There was some background storyline about other characters that he manipulated but it didn't take up so much of the series. He was also a murderer but to me it was more sinister and shocking vs the US version. I feel like Underwood is more of a blatant creepy rat where Urquhart is more sly and Machiavellian.
I have to say that when the final episode of the new series ended, I really didn't even care what happens to Frank and Claire. I will probably still watch at least the start of season 4 but won't be surprised if it loses me pretty quick. (I just read an article that said Spacey thinks the series can go for 12 seasons!! No, just no! And I say that as a Spacey fan.)
