I feel our society has been on a downward slope since the 70s and I think it's because of the higher than healthy lead levels in the drinking water... Flint isn't the only American city with lead in water issues, just the most famous!
Also, the fall of the Roman Empire can be linked to lead poisoning in their drinking water as well...
