I read a story, elsewhere, about a family who has a member drink a bottle at a holiday gathering

The very drunk parent, weeping and wailing about worthlessness was restrained by at least 2 adult sons from driving off.

30 minutes on, I am still shaking deep in my feelings.

Things I am grateful for today.
Running water, flush toilets, heat, electricity, internet, coffee, stuff for my cats, a safe living space.
And I never woke up handcuffed to a stretcher in the ER.

hi, I'm irisblue. I am clean, abstinent and sober today

Big hugs and hearts to you and everyone else.

I have never had that particular problem but have a family full of drug and alcohol problems and married into more.

It almost always brings me to tears to read a post like yours. Bless your sweet heart for working so hard to get where you are and maintaining it.

Congratulations and have a wonderful New Year! We will be on the upside finally.

We lost another friend of my daughter this year to an overdose.

I'm grateful for my child's life and recovery and wake up everyday with hope that it lasts.

You are fabulous .....it is indeed a long sometimes ugly road we travel but the end results when we get were we are today is worth the effort ...Another thing I am thankful for today is having others around that shared the journey and made it. Some didn't.

You forgot to add "proud" to the list of things you are today. As you should be. Happy New Year!
