Related: About this forumA couple more challenges ahead of me.
My wife is going out of town on a couple of trips. One this Tuesday and another in a couple weeks. So I'll be on my own. Way, way in the back of my mind there's a voice saying, "You can get hammered just one time. You won't get caught." But I know I'm stronger than that and can get through it just fine. Wish me luck!
Assuming you have access, go to as many meetings as you can during those times, discuss this with your sponsor...Use all resources available

(13,888 posts)Hi Bif,
Let's add service to your list. Have your wife leave you a list of projects to work on while she's gone.
Not only do you stay busy, you will like the sense of accomplishment, too.

(258,815 posts)I learned that a long time ago when I intended to have one small glass of wine after work - and pretty soon it was half the bottle. I'll have 14 years sober at the end of the month, still go to meetings because I can never forget. In that time I've seen too many people who thought they could just have one and were off to the races - again. Don't give into temptation, remember all you've been through - and accomplished. And remember that one - or a few - is never enough for us alcoholics.

(27,228 posts)Celebrated Greek Easter a week late at my B-I-L's house. Big family gathering. It was okay for a couple hours, but we ended up staying over 6 hours. I was one of the only adults not drinking. I like to joke that my wife isn't happy unless we're the last ones to leave. The last two hours were almost intolerable. The adults were pretty well behaved, but the younger ones were on a mission to get hammered. Thank god that's over!
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
