It has been a journey. I had awful anxiety attacks after I quit drinking I have finally started to get relief from in the past month. One day at a time.

(14,796 posts)What kept me sober the first few days, then weeks, then months, then years was finding groups of fellow alcoholics in meetings that were just like me and that didn't mind sharing their struggles in sobriety. That helped me overcome my shy and introverted personality until I finally started sharing my story.
I wish I could go back and hug and thank every single one of them.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
