3. OMG Sloe Gin- The girls we hung with went through a sloe gin fizz phase. I over - did it one night and we pulled into

the parking lot of our teen hang out in a VW bug. I was sitting behind the driver in the backseat. He got out and opened the door and pulled the seat up, so I could lean out and blow my slow fizzes out of my guts. A friend in the crowd was laughing raucously as I heaved. I considered myself qualified for a badge of honor for my performance.

These days, leaning out of the backseat of a VW bug to heave seems like an unlikely thing to do. But at 17, it was a “no problem“ situation.

Edit to add: That pretty well cured me of any impulse to drink sloe gin ever again.
