Suffer from migraines for 25 years...
And i have tried, no lie, I bet 25 different preventatives (eg, topamax, depakote, amotrypiline, beta blockers, etc, etc). No good luck. But....In January, I got my first dose of self-injected Aimovig. 3 weeks in, Ive seen dramatic improvement. Im making it 3or 4 days headache free.
Unfortunately, it's $700 per shot per month. So far, Life changing!

1. Have you tried the Botox injections?
I don't have enough migraines per month to qualify for them (fortunately) but a friend of mine has them and they've reduced the number of migraines by over half. She said they've been a lifesaver.

4. I suffered from 25 migraines a month
and after a year of trying a zillion different solutions (none worked) I was looking for a good, tall bridge to jump off of they, were so awful. Finally a radiologist who gave me a mammogram told me she gets Botox and it works. I was willing to try anything at that point. I was able to see her fantastic doctor, who was a pioneer in Botox used to treat migraines, within 3 months. Since I tried everything already she was able to inject me as soon as my insur approved it. It takes about 9 months for the full effect to happen but any relief was wonderful. Now I get a slight headache almost every day but I can manage them with coffee, aspirin, acetaminophen and a medication for migraines. What a relief. If tRump kills my ACA I can't afford the $15,000 a year for the Botox. That could drive me to fly to DC and grab his fat neck in my two hands and squeeze as hard as my head felt (squeezed in a vice).

5. Oh yeah, I tried Botox...did injections every 12 weeks...3 rounds...
Didnt work, but had nicely arched eye brows!
The injections....all 30+... we quite painful. In the end, I didnt see much benefit. I'm loving Aimovig! |

2. Been taking aimovig since it first came out
Went from 18-20 bad migraines a month to 5-6 a month.
So far zero side effects, too And yeah, all the preventive pills are useless. |

3. My student had very debilitating migraines several times a month. Her mother
was a pharmacist and she tried every drug out there. Nothing worked. She then got her ear pierced at an acupressure point for migraines (upper part of ear in the cartilage ) and she hasn't had a migraine since. (She just keeps the earring in.) Good luck!
