I get reminded of just how broken we all are right now.

I’ve posted on here before about the last months and how I was having a hard time dealing with things. I was unemployed and scared and depressed.

Well, things have gotten better over the last few weeks. I got a job and I’m able to work from home which I never dreamed would be possible.

But sometimes, like today, I am reminded of just how much the last two years have taken from us. How broken some of us are, and the very real physical and emotional pain it has caused and continues to cause.

Today is National Dog Day and I thought that I would post a picture of my doggie on Facebook. She is a rescue that came from a situation where she was severely abuse. It has taken her three years to feel safe with us. We let her go at her own pace. She’s doing great!

But in searching for a picture of her to use, I stumbled on a picture of a cat that I lost earlier this year. He was old and it was time for him to go. But I loved him so much! The picture just took my breath away, and I immediately found myself in physical pain. It’s stress related. Just too much hurt in a period of time. Too much emotion not yet expressed I suppose. So much grief. Took me a few minutes to just calm down and get things back in perspective. I’m fine now.

But the damage has been done. To ALL of us. We cannot ignore the last two years and the very horrific effect that it is going to have on us for a long time. And we aren’t through the storm yet.

Take care my DU’ers. And be gentle with yourselves. It’s going to take a long time to heal.

now have 3 beautiful, loving dogs. I couldn't ask for more. If it's not too difficult, put your cat's picture up, allow us on DU to enjoy and remember our animal friends. I know it's hard, but at least, on this earth, I got to spend lots of loving time w/ each and all of my animal friends, and wouldn't trade the moments for a million bucks (there's not enough money in the world for me).

In any event, take care yourself, and thanks for sharing this moment with us. Our animal friends are very much, part of our families and I do thank you for reminding us of this fact.

But I see it as 4.5 yrs of TFG trying to kill is all. Everyone has a degree of PTSD, I'm afraid.

Hugs to you!

I saw the posts about Hillary sending planes to Afghanistan.

Oh what could have been. I think that makes it all the more hard to accept and endure. Because many of us know…it did NOT have to be like this.

Sending hugs right back!

As someone who did the very same thing as you -- come across a pic of a beloved cat who, tho older than usual, died way too soon for me, I say treat yourself gently. The holes we have in our heart from those we've lost - whether they be our four-legged friends, or family and/or friends lost to death or due to Trumpism... the loss is real, physical, and painful. The only way thru it is with each other, recognizing we're all feeling the same to one degree or another.

Blessings on you and your canine; and may your feline be there to greet you when you finally cross your own Rainbow Bridge. May Bast bless us all.

Wishing you all the same. Take care of yourself and those around you. I agree with everything you said, and holding on to one another (two legged or morel) is the only way through this.
