Finally went to the store. Can't tell the difference between a roaster and a fryer. Whenever I cook them they taste like chicken!

Got lots of kale. New health craze, with pink Himalaya salt. I hope this is my stimulus.

... that the designations "roaster" and "fryer" refer to the size/weight of the chicken, a "fryer" being the smaller of the two.

segregated by size and cooked. I had the same thought in the store today with the pork ... a quarter, I think, about 30" long. That was a pig not so long ago.

Oh well, thanks for the roast and fry information!

I live alone so the roasters are too big. A chicken tastes like chicken.

I usually buy Purdue, and some of those are smaller. Lately I've bought Giant house brand. I thought they were outstanding, and there's no fancy internal packaging - string or plastic bags for the extras, and no absorbent pad which i find to be an annoying piece of any packaging. They are selling you moisture.

Our Giant is expensive but the fryers are one of the good deals. And I agree about the packaging, it’s great.

We really need a cheaper grocery store in town. The Food Lion closed years ago and now all we have is Giant and a fancy Harris Teeter. They kept raising prices to match each other and now both are stupid expensive. Aldi was supposed to take over half of the old Food Lion building but they backed out for some reason.

at my local Giant, due to the pandemic when I began leaving for the store at 5 am, is that the discounted soon-to-expire items are often placed on shelves by 8 or 9 am. I only find them midweek - T,W,R. And by afternoon, not much left. They tag them with yellow discount stickers, often 45-65% off chicken, pork, beef, baked goods, breads. I shouldn't eat much beef, and didn't for years, but this has been such a good deal - real beef cubes, steaks instead of an occasional chop meat which is just too fatty.

Food Lion was gobbled up by Delhaize, which merged with Ahold, both Belgian companies I think. Ahold has owned Giant since 1998. Ahold I recall reading, almost went under in the Great Recession. Then I saw prices rise in 2012 or so, so I moved on to Walmart. Now Grocery Outlet is here, and they are ok at times, all closeouts, but selection is limited.

from Chik Fil A. I had a reward on the app for a free entree and wimped out on doing a curb side grocery order. I’m off work today so I’m being lazy.

I might have pancakes later as a combo dessert/2nd late night dinner because I ate so early.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2021/02/11/baked-feta-pasta-recipe-tiktok/

There's been a shortage of feta cheese around the country due to everybody trying to make this recipe. I found feta at an off-the-beaten-path grocery store today by chance so I thought I'd try it.

The biggest appeal is how easy it is to make. Just pour a bunch of cherry tomatoes into a pan with a block of feta in the center, douse with olive oil and kosher salt and pepper (and crushed red pepper and garlic if you like—I also added sauteed chicken pieces).

Bake at 400° for 40 minutes. Cook your pasta of choice and pour it into the cooked feta tomato mix, stir it all together
with a fork and eat.

It was OK. I won’t rush to make it again. I found it to be a little too rich. I'm not into a lot of cheese. I'm happy that I tried it though because it’s been popping up everywhere, it was even on one pf the daytime talk shows today.
