Coho salmon on a bed of Israeli couscous (which is really a pasta). The RG mixed olives, feta, and lemon to make a condiment for it.
Iceburg wedge with Caesar salad dressing. Pancetta bits, dried cranberries which had been marinated in orange juice, toasted almonds, sliced radish and scallion.
Dessert: I made prune filling for crescent rolls and am serving them with whipped cream. Hot orange tea to go with it.

(35,658 posts)had a hard time getting them to sprout.
This year I bought another seed pack and started them on 3/7. I'm using warming mats and not a one has yet come up. I planted a total of 280 peppers of all types and out of that 280, only 17 have sprouted. If you read on the seed packets for peppers, though, they are slow to sprout and will sometimes take up to 20-odd days to emerge.
The RG likes to just roast them at a high heat, blistering them. They are a favorite of mine, too, and I sure hope I get some plants this year.

(23,307 posts)Stir fried broccoli with slivered almonds. Chocolate whiskey ice cream from Big Dipper for dessert. We almost never have ice cream in the house because we eat it...this stuff is so stinking good.

A big plate was shared out the back door to our neighbor with FLFC supervising the transfer.
FLFC smelled the corned beef cooking and talked about it all afternoon. I cut a small piece off early and TJ served him with it. He ate a little, but it just wasn't what he wanted. He did feed on a variety of leftover meats we have in the refrigerator and part of a steak-um cooked just for him. He also had some apple slices which seem to be his favorite snack lately.
this dog regularly cracks me up.
How generous of you to share with your neighbor. That was a nice thing to do.

(17,434 posts)He adores the neighbor. When FLFC was healthier he would spot him going to his car and bark until we let him out to visit with him. FLFC lived in the unit the neighbor lives in for a year or two before we moved to the bigger house in front. I guess this makes the neighbor family to Manny (FLFC).
My neighbor is struggling financially. We help him and others we know because we are not struggling. It is a joy to be able to share our simple, but tasty, fare with others. Many are just one unexpected medical bill or car repair away from bankruptcy and unfortunately I can only help a few.

(22,034 posts)I love it since it's appropriate.
The Landlady(!) is making chicken fingers with a very thick batter of egg, flour and Panko flakes. They'll be fried in her grandfather's 10-pound cast iron frying pan in vegetable oil with a dollop of bacon grease for flavor, (and cholesterol!). We'll have lemon slices on the side.
Meanwhile, I've been making air-fried French fries. I'm also going to make a salad of Romaine lettuce, blanched asparagus, a sliced shallot, tomato skins and some carrot slices for color. We're also going to use a creamy Caesar salad dressing in honor of the day.
Orange slices for dessert.

(4,605 posts)with crispy bacon, mushroom slices fried in the bacon fat, and burger sauce.
The sauce is an easy spinach salad dressing which we accidentally found out tastes excellent on a burger (sugar, apple cider vinegar, oil, ketchup, minced onion, a little minced garlic, pepper, and salt- the longer it sits in the fridge, the better it gets).
We used to eat a burger on a bun with a side spinach salad but, after the happy accident, started omitting the bun, tossing everything into one dish, and pouring the sauce on top, I forgot to make a hard boiled egg, which is also tasty in there.
No dessert tonight, theres nothing sweet in the house.
(unless I cook up a couple small pancakes as a midnight snack? That feels likely.)
NJCher
(35,658 posts)Gonna' try that as we are going into the season for salad greens and burgers on the grill. I make that spinach salad as you describe--one of my faves. My mom used to make it.
