I've got 2 corned beef briskets in the crock pot for St. Paddy's day dinner today.

Set to slow cook for 8 hours. Later today I will cook up the small potatoes, carrots, & cabbage. And will put a Irish soda bread in the oven. I will serve it with Guiness extra stout & have Irish coffee for desert.

One of the briskets is a flat & one is a point - both very meaty. The point was only $1.77 a pound. I picked up several to freeze.

This is my first time posting in this group. I sure do enjoy reading all the delish food ideas here.

Others are the Easter ham & fixins, Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas roast, Cinco de Mayo chile rellenos & fixins. Heck any excuse for a feast, we're on board.

for us Orthodox it's the first day of Great Lent, so Vegetable Korma and rice here. It will probably include some cabbage, though.

a major battle with IBS this winter. Now on a new med and hopefully on my way to more delicious veggies, just in time for Great Lent. Have you tried roasting cabbage wedges or steaks? Yummy!

Thanks for that recipe. IBS can be a son of a gun - I hope those new meds work.

I made Guinness stout brownies yesterday with frosting and have Guiness beef stew simmering and Irish soda bread in the oven baking right now...we were thinking along similar lines!

I always boil bratwurst sausages in beer before I grill them - delish.

That's another food day at our house - Octoberfest. And then at the end of the month - pizza. That goes back to ordering pizza so that we could get the kids out trick or treating.

I have memories of old archaic ones that made weird sounds and let off a loud disturbing whistle.

Yes, I take advantage of the $1.77 a lb price of point cut briskets this time of year. I buy several for the freezer.

Amazingly tender corned beef from a butcher who corns her own. So awesome. Tonight probably corned beef on rye. Yum!

my kids were in high school & I thought they were too old for Easter baskets. Well, was I wrong. The disappointment was palpable. So I went to more "sophisticated" Easter baskets.
