Shrimp burger on pita with homemade Creole sauce. I watched a youtube video and learned how to make them a new way. Tomato and lettuce to go on top.
Coleslaw, into which I put grated carrot and red onion, and sliced green pepper. Now here's the funny part. I thought I was using my coleslaw dressing and I really put on my Caesar dressing. But it tasted good, so I'm not changing it.
For dessert, a cup of cold orange tea and a slice of banana nut bread.

(6,046 posts)My wife makes a killer fried rice using jasmine rice, scrambled eggs, shrimp, broccoli, julienned carrots and green onions. The sauce is fresh ginger, garlic, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, corn starch and brown sugar.
We have frozen homemade egg rolls that I'm going to put in the air fryer to go with it.
Mmmm, I can't wait.

(5,443 posts)which I learned to make after moving to 'the south' (Florida) years ago. Biscuits are made using Bisquick so not from scratch. I prefer Tennessee Pride brand but Jimmy Dean is good, too. So you fry the sausage and break it up with a fork as you go. Then sprinkle flour on top and keep mashing with the fork which is creating a roux. When the flour is cooked awhile (so you don't get that raw flour taste) add milk and deglaze using a spatula and cook until thickened. DONE! With that will be Cara Cara oranges and apple cake for dessert. Easy meal.

(1,704 posts)Actually my weeknight cook (grown son) made it. The contrast between the spicy chicken and the richness of the olives and sweetness of cooked cherry tomatoes was wonderful. We had some good looking asparagus that we'd gotten at the Burmese store that had a sauce of butter with garlic and sriracha that my son made up.
Here's the chicken recipe: https://www.justbarechicken.com/recipes/spicy-chicken-saute-with-green-olive-relish/
We have several hundred Burmese immigrants in the area. They come to work in meatpacking. At this Burmese store, we get rice, leeks, ginger, turmeric very cheaply, among other things. They also have pig uteri, chicken feet, and pig snouts, which we have not ventured to get - yet. Oh, and durian too. That's on the "maybe later" list.

(4,588 posts)Chicken thighs and rice again, lol!
This time I rolled the bone-in, skin-on thighs in a bowl of curry powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a bit of cayenne. Heavy coating. Cooked them in the air fryer. When they were done, I dumped some spaghetti sauce in the drippings and heated that right in the machine. Added a little more curry powder, too. Served in a bowl with jasmine rice.
It turned out to be very tasty!
