What's for Dinner, Sun., April 18, 2021

Thank heavens I have stuffed red peppers in the refrig so I can have something good for dinner tonight. Gardening is taking its toll and I am worn out. However, I cut three bags of salad greens, herbs (mint, cilantro, thyme, rosemary), and scallions from the garden. Also kale. I want to make a massaged kale salad with goat cheese and blueberries tonight, but I don't know if I can hold up. My face might just crash right onto the keyboard any minute now.

Pomegranate kombucha to drink.

For dessert, mini-Dove bars covered with milk chocolate and with chocolate chips in the vanilla filling. Decaf coffee.

I made a nice bone broth yesterday morning/afternoon/evening... and we had several steaks in the freezer, so I made soup. It's still cooking, but it tastes really good.

side dish was cooked carrots with honey, lemon and ginger.

In making the shrimp, I kept thinking that I'd like the sauce to be redder - so I kept adding what I thought was paprika, but turned out it was cayenne. Fortunately I realized my mistake just at the edge of the hotness level we can tolerate. Anybody have any "brain out on vacation" moments when they're cooking?

close call! Glad you caught it just in time. There are ways to tone down the hotness, which the RG has shown me, but I can't remember them at the moment. When they come back to my feeble brain (as opposed to merely being on vacation), I will post back.

Nice to see you!

I hope you post more this spring and summer because I love to hear about what you grow and preserve from your garden.
