What's for Dinner, Tues., April 27, 2021

Posting early due to working late.

Chicken and pork sausages. I put them in my small slow cooker.

Macaroni and cheese.

Kale salad with goat cheese, blueberries, and toasted almonds.

Dessert: banana mango dessert. Crushed lemon cookies are the base; rice pudding, a mango, and a banana mixed into the pudding. Earl Grey tea.

------------>On another topic, as many of you know, I teach gardening to children during after-school programs. Basically I let them sample a fresh vegetable and then we plant the vegetable in the school garden. Tonight the students will dip Chinese long green beans in ranch dressing and sweet honey mustard dressing. I try to choose vegetables that are a little different to keep the students' interest. Last week was kohlrabi. Most of them loved it.

I asked the RG what creative things I could do with the long green beans to make it interesting. Here's what he suggested. I will add some yellow, orange, and red small sweet peppers.

The small-town grocery store I was in yesterday had some good deals on beef in their meat department. From a local farm. They were also making up a big batch of ham salad. They let me try some, and it is delicious. But they refused to tell me the "secret ingredient". I think it's garlic, and a more savory dill pickle than the usual sweet pickles.

Brioche bun, onion slice, tomatoes and a sliced boiled egg. Side of steamed broccoli with cheddar cheese.

I sure wish there had been a cooking class, and a gardening class when I was in school. Those are some lucky kids!

Thanks to all for years of fun. I've tried to help all improve their repertoire of ideology and logic.

But intolerance and bias has driven me away for good. You cannot expand or argue with rigid minds who refuse to see reality for what it is.

I'm baking some lightly herbed lavender/thyme bread for which I used a dancing oolong for 2/3 of the water.

I'll know if it works in a few minutes.

sausage, broccoli, pepper, onion and extra cheese

There's one brownie left. Al can have it. I think there's an apple or two if I go looking for something sweet.
