The other half of the sesame noodles I made the other day and some cold Hungarian Mushroom Soup!

For dessert, watermelon. Also some vanilla rice pudding with cherries.

Tonight I will be having a "Food Truck Friday" boxed Persian dinner prepared by well-known chef and cookbook author Louisa Shafia, to benefit the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition. I have been to several of their foodie events, including a couple of previous ones catered by Shafia, and each has been fabulous.

4. Old salads

We’re sitting on “Pelagic” in the Hudson River and it’s hot!

Mixed greens salad with cherry tomato halves, thinly sliced red onion, slivers of green peppers, cucumber rings topped with crushed walnuts. Oil & vinegar dressing.

6. Leftovers

because it's too hot to cook. I know Friday is supposed to be a fast day, but I figure cleaning up the fridge on a day like this is penitential enough. So I'll set out whatever's in it and it's pot luck. I know there's tortellini salad, Southwest corn, leftover noodle dish from the Lao restaurant, and some cold steamed shrimp. At least.

Was going to make some cherry chocolate chip ice cream but someone didn't put the bowl to the ice cream machine in the freezer. Oh well. Tomorrow maybe.

red potatoes. Angel food cake for dessert.
