What's for Dinner, Tues., Sept. 28, 2021

I saw a package of 16 beans at the store and wanted to buy them but had my doubts as to whether they would all have the same cooking time. I knew I had a variety of dried beans at home, so I decided to make them myself. I doubt I will reach 16 but maybe 8.

Therefore: eight-bean soup with garlic-pork sausage. The latter is in the slow cooker now. I am using my own fresh tomatoes, which are already chopped. I also happened into a great deal on chicken bone broth yesterday, so I'm using that for the stock. And of course, my own homegrown onions and herbs.

Multi-seed bialy to go with the soup tonight.

Dessert: new type of Greek yogurt--tropical fruit. That, along with tea and biscuits.

Graduated to a larger 9x9 pan because I'm hungry tonight. Getting the pizza out of the metal pan will be a challenge I think, plus uncertain as to cooking time and even temp in the metal pan in a toaster oven.

It stuck just a little. I don't use spray oils or spray whipped cream because of the metal content, or so I was told. The insides of the can of course are metal, and the contents are in contact with it until it's empty.

For us, that seems to be a crucial factor. Without enough oil, we get the cough sticking or baking onto the pan or stone.

I hope your pie was yummy!

I don't measure anything, and I try to keep the oil down for calorie reasons. For this personal half-size pie I use a bit over a tablespoon. And I used canola. Though olive oil would make it more stretchy and add a bit of flavor.

And thanks, it was a good pie. Crust did much better in the metal pan which got hotter.

First, we'll have a salad of red leaf lettuce, yellow cherry-sized tomatoes, slices of Vidalia onion, chopped walnuts and raisins with a strawberry dressing.

Second, pan-fried salmon with a honey & lime glaze served with yellow rice and steamed broccoli.

Third, cream sherry as we play Backgammon!
