Strong British black tea, with plenty of milk and sugar. Just like my Irish grandmother made for me as a child.

I drink the tea every day, but I indulge with more sugar and milk on Sunday mornings.

Looking for the perfect tea, the same kind my grandmother served, I taste tested all kinds of imported and domestic Irish and British tea. To my surprise the best of the lot was Kroger's British Black Tea.

A friend of mine came to visit, she grew up drinking tea as her father was from Ireland. I gave her a taste test and she also picked out the Kroger's black tea as the most similar to what she drank as a child.

Until I found the Kroger's British tea it was the tea I drank most often.

I also switch to decaf in the afternoon. Which decaf English do you drink?
The Kroger's British Black decaf tea is not as good as the caffeinated bags.

I didn't think about opening the bag and using it loose leaf. I do have a diffuser that came with my electric kettle, so it would not be hard to try it. My grandmother and aunts always used tea bags so that is what I have been doing. But the loose leaf will be fun to try.

Do you re-use your tea bags? Get two mugs out of one teabag? When I was younger I liked weaker tea so I would re-use a tea bag. (These days I love a good strong mug of tea.)

My father and Irish relatives were somewhat aghast at this practice. My father would get after me and say he could afford to have his daughter use a fresh tea bag for each cup of tea. I still am amused at the thought of this.

My Grandma served me "Constant Comment" it's a black pekoe with orange and spice added. It was my staple for years.

My Dad, a coffee drinker, used to tease me for being such a "Brit" because I didn't like coffee.

Moved from Cali to MN and met the House Brand Orange Spice Tea of Good Earth. It was like what "Constant Comment" tea wanted to be when it grew up. Haven't had that in awhile either.

Monsters have 3 times the caffeine and lately. I gotta go with the caffeine. Dragging through the days.

That was a great tea.

I hear you on the caffeine, I need some in the morning and early afternoon to give me a boost.
The Black English tea has enough caffeine to do the job.

I nuked some bacon and we had homemade blueberry syrup. Plus coffee. All perfection!

Golden Honeydew Melon left out 1 week to ripen
(A little old lady once told me you can tell when they are ripe when the skin feels a little sticky. It's like the juiciness is seeping out of it.)

this morning in my avocado toast, for which I used rye bread.

After mashing the avocados, I added "Yagenbori," which has sesame, orange, and chili in it. Then I put it on the rye and added a swirl of HG (Hacienda Guzman) organic olive oil. Malden salt and freshly ground black pepper. Squeeze of lemon.

Sweet and spicy Good Earth tea with a little agave.
