So, you Axe the Old Spice?

Done, thank you for your indulgence.

That is a great idea. Lotsa stuff out already may as well make it very productive.

I found that foreign markets have cheaper spices in plastic bags so I fill the old spice bottles with the new spices.

For instance a pack of oregano by a company Sarif was 1.99 and in Safeway in a glass container 4.79 recently and the plastic bag had more ounces.

A grocery store I frequent used to have bulk jars of spices: you could get a small quantity if you just needed that. But those went away by April 2020. I've bought some of the most frequently used ones - cumin, coriander seed, black pepper, and paprika - in 1 lb containers from Amazon, keep them in a cool, dry place, and refill the smaller jars regularly. A new store opened recently specializing in products from Eastern Europe and the Middle East: they have spices in large but not too large quantities.

I remember once throwing out a five spice powder that had to be twenty years old and had no taste or smell.

I went to make a mixture to flavor my stuffing... mixed it all together... and it tasted horrible!!!

So, I ran to the store to buy replacements... the day before Thanksgiving... yeah, no. Lots of bare space in the spice aisle.

But then!! Spotted "Turkey Rub" and decided that would have to do. And it did. Tastes good.

Then... I emptied and tossed all those old spices in the trash.

This morning... Turkey Rub nowhere to be found. NOWHERE!!!!

All I can think is that it, too, got dumped in the great spice debacle.

Yes. Made another trip to Sprouts this morning.

bulk spices.

Saves a ton of money and you only get what you need.

Central Market has an entire wall of bulk spices.

It is time for me to purge my stale spices.

I get my bulk spices at my local health food store. Much cheaper and better quality. And then there’s always Penzey’s.
