Related: About this forumI made vegetarian mushroom souffle last week
My friend described it as being like mushroom stuffing, but different. I found several recipes online for mushroom souffle and winged it. I had stale bread, mushrooms, onions, garlic, egg, and seasonings. I didn't have chevre` cheese, so I used some Mozarella cheese. It turned out really good. I am so surprised at the way the cheese changed the texture of the dish. I filled a small pie plate and baked it at 325 for 35 minutes. I only used one egg, so it probably wasn't as fluffy as it could be. I will do it again.

(3,315 posts)It sounds good. I made a mushroom risotto. It was good, but a bit bland. I think I needed more "punchy" cheese.
I only used one egg. But it was lighter than stuffing.

(17,005 posts)I'll add just a little to cream soup, eggplant parmesan, even mac and cheese, when I made it. It adds such richness to the flavor. I've never made risotto.

(17,005 posts)I mainly cook for myself, so I use whatever I have handy. If the pan spreads the recipe out, I watch the bake time, so I don't burn it up. lol
If you have any ovenproof glass bowls with straight sides, they would probably work for a souffle.
Hope you get to make your souffle. That sounds really good!

My dogs food dish is actually a regular white ceramic soufflé bowl that I bought as a second in a discount kitchen supply store
. Wonder if they have any more!!
What kind of mushrooms did you use in your soufflé?

(17,005 posts)After the outcry of V.P. Harris paying so much for a metal pan, one of my friends was looking for a 20 qt. soup pot. I looked online and wowie!
I just used white mushrooms, low key around here. I meant to make stuffed mushrooms for a little dinner party I had, but totally forgot. The souffle was a lot easier
