What's for Dinner, Fri., Mar. 18, 2022

Salad: Red leaf lettuce, chopped. Fennel, apple, toasted walnuts.

Basil gnocchi with creamy pink tomato sauce.

Dessert: Blackberry shortcake with whipped cream. Spicy Chai tea.

Had a great time at my St. Paddy's Day party last night. Laughed and talked until 2 a.m.

It's in there! With cabbage, greens, noodles. The potato I forgot was still in the oven from yesterday. So it's been baked twice. This week I grabbed a $3 whole chicken! There's a food inflation fighter. When chickens were scarce about 7 or 8 years ago I was shocked one day to find them at $10-12. Ordinary, non-organic, house brand. So that I still find them at $6 and under is good news.

side was roast vegetables (sweet potato, turnip, onion, green beans and cauliflower) with za'atar. Last weekend we were in Kansas City, and shopped at a Mediterranean market. The pitas were made in KC, and we got a good-sized bag of za'atar. Tomorrow I plan to roast a chicken spiced with za'atar.
