If you have a wide mouth jar, gently place the UNWASHED berries inside. It's a good way to check each berry for ripeness or the beginnings of rot. I place the less ripe berries on the bottom. Then put the lid on and store in the refrigerator.

I've been successful in keeping strawberries for two weeks or more this way. If left in the carton, they tend to go moldy and/or rotten in 3 days.
